Personal Info

I started collecting model horses in the 9th grade. In 2009 I attended my first Breyerfest and was introduced to the world of customizing. My first attempts were not very pretty but that did not stop me, and I have continued to push myself ever since.  Each new custom is different from the last: some are just simple repaints while others take a drastic turn.

I hope you enjoy looking through the pages either here or at my Tumblr.

My Hobby Work

The models I work on are usually cellulose acetate plastic but on rare occasions I paint resins. Generally I take Peter Stones or Breyers to customize and re-paint. Other mediums I use for equine figures are ceramic, rubbery models like Safari brand, and cheaper plastics such as Grand Champion toys.

Where and How to Order/Contact

Customs can go from a simple paintjob with minor or no alterations to whole limbs moved and changed. I paint with pastel and acrylic paint but plan to try out oils in the future.

Work is done with a variety of tools and materials including: super glue, jewlery files, Apoxie Sculpt, clay, sculpting tools, and of course the knife and heat gun. Sometimes I'll use unconventional things such as small nails to keep repositioned legs together or wood blocks for a base.

I follow a variety of blogs that inspire me to do new things, and occasionally find a photo or post that sparks a new project! Sometimes I'll paruse the internet or tack shop and see a model and bam! the idea hits me. Other times I will go seek out the model I find ideal for the custom I have in mind.

Most customs I create are not a particular horse, meaning I may take inspiration or use a reference but its not a portrait model. I have made a few models in the liking of a real horse such as "Valiant" the blind dressage horse or the TWH "Champagne Walkout". The most interesting ones however, have to be the fantasy horses. A few zombies occupy my shelves and even a mythical horse or two (Sleipnir being my personal favorite, 8 legs sure stand out!).

** I do have non-custom models available- feel free to ask.

If interested in any available pieces please email me or message me on my Tumblr page. I do have an account on MH$P: SilverfangStudios.

I prefer to take Paypal as it is most secure but if absolutely necessary I will take other methods (must be discussed first).

The Fine Print

Models that are available are noted as such. I am able to do commissions depending on the horse or project in mind.

A down payment is required if you are definately interested in a model available- regardless of its a custom or an original finish. This is to make sure I don't pack up a model and at the last second left hanging (an unfortunate but common event).  50% for a model less than $30 USD and 25% if its greater than that.

Curious inquiries are just fine but you are committed to buy you must make said payment. I ship anywhere but international customers note that it can get pricey and I ask you pay part of the shipping :) This is so I don't lose a large amount of money and it does not cost the customer a  ridiculous amount either.

Please email me at the address at the top for any models or questions. I will provide my Paypal address when a sale is made.
